HOW TO MAKE MILKY BAR COOKIES

Baking these milky bar cookies are very simple, just like most cookie recipes. But, there’s an extra twist that turns them into something special!

Plus, this recipe is fun to make with children, so bring your whole family along when you begin making them. But make sure everyone is watching so that the cookie dough doesn’t disappear before it goes into the oven.

Let’s start making the candy bar cookies!

INGREDIENTS FOR THE PERFECT MILKY BAR COOKIES

This recipe takes a great chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe and makes it more exciting by adding a milky bar to it.

With that, you will need all of the common ingredients for a chocolate chip cookie but with an addition of a milky bar.

Here are all the ingredients you need:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cup walnuts or macadamia nuts, chopped
  • 12. oz Milky Bar, cut in chunks

These are standard cookie ingredients, right?

STEP 1: PREPARING THE INGREDIENTS

Take out a large bowl and combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in it. Then, give it a stir and set aside for later.

Next, add the butter, brown sugar, and sugar to a mixing bowl. Then, use a stand mixer or a hand mixer to cream the butter and sugar together.

Once the mixture is creamy, add in the vanilla extract and eggs one by one, continue mixing well until all ingredients are blended.

STEP 2: MAKE THE COOKIE DOUGH

The next step is to slowly pour the dry ingredients mixture that you have set aside into the bowl with the wet ingredients. Continue to mix as you go.

Then, add in the nuts, if you prefer to use them. Use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to fold into a cookie dough. Mix everything until it is all combined. But you don’t want the dough to be overmixed!

Now that the cookie dough is ready, refrigerate it for at least 30 mins. This really makes a big difference in the taste and texture of the cookies.

Once the dough has chilled, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), then line a baking sheet using parchment paper.

STEP 3: BAKE THE COOKIES

The best way to make milky bar cookies is to make them large! You may use two cookie spoons or a cookie scoop to make 12 cookie dough balls. Then, bake them in two batches.

After you have formed each ball, place it on a parchment-lined or silicon baking sheet until you have 6 cookie dough balls. Once all of the cookies have been placed on the baking sheet, place a few pieces of the milky bars into each cookie. Don’t be afraid to press them into the dough.

Next step is to bake the cookies for 10 minutes. Then, repeat the process with the remaining cookie dough.

When all cookies have been baked perfectly, allow them to cool down for a while, then enjoy!

STORING MILKY BAR COOKIES

By using this recipe, you can make 12 large milky bar cookies. You won’t have any leftovers if they are brought to a holiday party, or if your family made them!

However, if you do, the cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 weeks or in the refrigerator for up to a few months.

If you need them to be kept for longer periods of time, you can freeze them in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.

REFRIGERATING COOKIE DOUGH

One of the best things about this recipe is that you can bake half of the batch and save the rest for later in the week. This promises warm and freshly baked cookies, and there’s nothing better than that!

So if you wish to achieve this, seal the top of the bowl in which the cookie dough is in with plastic wrap or put a lid on it.

Then, you can then refrigerate the cookie dough for up to 3 days.

Now, you can make the cookie dough balls whenever you like, then top them with the milky bars and bake it as per the instructions above.

HOW TO FREEZE MILKY BAR COOKIE DOUGH

You can prepare the cookie dough ahead of time and freeze it for up to 3 months.

In order to do this, make cookie dough balls and place them on parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

Then transfer the dough to the freezer until they are firm. Next, seal them in a freezer-safe bag that is labeled with the date.

Whenever you want some cookies, allow the dough to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Then add the milky bars to each cookie and bake!
