Truffle Popcorn For Social Distancing

You will definitely make this over and over. You won’t be able to stop eating it once you start. It’s also easy to portion, so it’s perfect to accommodate for social distancing. Even though we may be six feet apart, that doesn’t mean we can’t eat good food.

It is now time to make some Truffle Popcorn.

Why is this the perfect individual appetizer for social distancing?

Truffle popcorn is easy to scale up to serve as many guests as possible. You can place a portion of it in small bags to make sure everyone has their own individual serving.

Ingredients for Truffle Popcorn

TRUFFLES

It is, in simple words, delicious and decadent. However, the dictionary describes truffles as a strong-smelling underground fungus that looks like an irregular, rough-skinned potato. It grows primarily in broadleaved woodlands on calcareous soils. It is also considered a culinary delight. These add depth and richness to any dish that will have you coming back for more.

POPCORN

In the grocery store, you will see three types of kernels: white, yellow and mushroom. Yellow is the most common variety, and it is likely what you eat the most. White is similar, but it has a tenderer texture. While mushroom popcorn produces large, fluffy pieces. For heavy coatings, such as caramel and chocolate, mushroom popcorn is the best. But, you will need yellow popcorn for this appetizer for social distancing.

How to Make Truffle Popcorn?

Make the Popcorn

It seems easy to make popcorn. Right? There are plenty of options out there. But, the Whirly Pop was our favorite. It is a pan with a metal bar inside, and you need to spin it to ensure the popcorn kernels don’t sit too long in the oil. It’s a great method that produces delicious popcorn every time. But it can be tedious to sit and stir the popcorn for hours. Moreover, this uses butter. Because you need to add truffle oil to the recipe later, you can use air-popped popcorn.

Hot Pop is an easy-to-use air popper. Simply place the kernels into the bottom of the container, cover it with a lid, and then press the popcorn button in your microwave.

The large bowl of popcorn is filled with air-popped popcorn with very few kernels on the bottom. Hot Pop is made of silicone which makes it easy to clean and collapsible, which is great for those who have limited kitchen space.

Add the Truffle Flavor

The flavor of this Truffle Popcorn comes from three sources: White Truffle Oil, Black Truffle Oil, and Truffle salt. Each oil has a different taste, but they work well together!

Truffle products can be expensive. However, they are worth it since they are a wonderful addition to many dishes. The White Truffle Oil is also enough if you don’t want to commit too much. It has a strong, garlicky, and peppery flavor.

Combine the Ingredients

Once you have made the popcorn, place it in a large bowl with a cover. Then, add the oils and salt (if using), and finally, shake it vigorously to combine. You are done!
