How to Make Texas Roadhouse Portobello Mushroom Chicken

This Portobello mushroom recipe is not only delicious and flavorful but also healthy. It is exquisite for both summer and winter. It has a lot of flavors and very little fat. You can bake them in the oven or use a cast-iron skillet to cook them to absolute perfection. Portobello mushroom chicken from Texas Roadhouse is a great choice if you are trying to lose weight but still craving something palatable.

Ingredients

  • Grilled chicken breasts (depending on how many you’re serving)
  • Monterey Jack cheese (Sliced)
  • Portobello Mushroom Sauce 
  • Sautéed Portobello mushrooms
  • Parmesan cheese (Grated)
  • Parsley (Chopped)

For The Portobello Mushroom Sauce

  • Condensed cream of mushroom soup, 5 1/2 ounces
  • Soybean oil, 1 cup
  • Portobello mushrooms (finely chopped), 8 ounces
  • Flour, 1 cup
  • Water, 2 quarts + 1 cup
  • White pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • Granulated garlic, 2 teaspoons
  • Granulated salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Granulated sugar, 2 Tablespoons

Instructions

For the Portobello Mushroom Chicken:

Step 1

Place grilled chicken breasts on a baking tray.

Step 2

Place a piece of Monterey Jack cheese on each chicken breast. Heat the cheese until it melts.

Step 3

Spread the Portobello mushroom sauce over the chicken.

Step 4

Serve after garnishing with grated Parmesan cheese, sautéed Portobello mushrooms, and fresh chopped parsley.

For the Portobello Mushroom Sauce:

Step 1

Combine the soup and water. Set aside. In a saucepan, pour the soybean oil. Heat for 1 minute.

Step 2

Cook the chopped Portobello into the saucepan on medium heat for about 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Mix in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Take care not to overcook.

Step 4

Continue stirring until the mixture comes to a soft boil. Then add the water and soup mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add pepper, garlic, salt and sugar until it combines perfectly.
